Vintage Dinka shawl

Authentic mid 20th-century Dinka shawl with display stand

The women of the Dinka ethnic group (mostly inhabiting Southern Sudan) wear this shawl, which is known as an Alual. It is worn from an early age and signifies her family's wealth. The fuller the bead work, the wealthier the family. We have chosen to display this on a custom-made stand, a little differently to how it would be worn.
